Magnolia Easter Egg Decoration

Good morning! Hope you all had a great weekend?  Today I made another "anything but a card" project to coincide with the huge Easter - Spring Extravaganza contest going on over at the Magnolia-licious Highlights blog. I have a tabletop decoration for Easter to share with you:

I picked up this hollow foam  easter egg from Michael's Arts & Crafts. I actually bought it last year but I never got the chance to make something with it. This year, I gave myself plenty of time.  I cut off the front of the egg with my Dremel tool to reveal the hollow core then decorated the interior with easter grass and various Magnolia images.

The images I used for this project are:

Magnolia tree
Tulip Walkway
Little Birds
Sun
Chicken in Egg and Tilda with Bunny don't seem to be in stock right now at Magnolia-licious.

My flowers are from WOC and the gingham ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I used a Magnolia Doohickey die to cut out the scrolls and a Martha Stewart butterfly punch for my butterflies. I used copics to color my image but unfortunally forgot to keep track of all my colors. Sorry about that, promise to do better next time!! ;)

Hope you'll play along with the Easter/Spring Extravaganza going on at the Magnolia-licious Highlights blog.  Diana has some awesome prizes for you.

I will enter this project at the following challenges:

Crafty Emma - die cut crazy (I used the swirl magnolia doohickey die under the flowers)
Totally Gorjuss - spring has sprung
Fairy Fun Fridays - oh so spring
Stamp Something - spring
Stampin with the Dragon - spring
Wags n Whiskers - spring
Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenges - ribbon

I really had fun making this project. I hope you like it!!  Have a great week!

What an amazing contest, right!? I wish I could play! LOL!  So here is the project I prepared for today:

I made this wagon using a template similar to the one I found at Splitcoast Stampers. I tried following the directions but the measurements didn't work out for me (maybe I just can't follow directions LOL) so I just looked at the pictures and did it my way.  Instead of recreating the basket, I turned mine into a wagon. I wanted to make it look like a wooden wagon so I used a mustard colored cardstock from Bazzill Preppie Pack and ran 2 Distress Ink pads across the top of the paper. This Bazzill cardstock has a grain that mimics the look of wood. I think it came out pretty realistic. I then cut the 8x8 paper into 3/4 inch strips and sponged the edges - I wanted each piece to look like a wooden plank.

I really had fun making this wagon. I used Bunny Tilda on my wagon and for my card, I used Tilda hugging bunny.  I cut out the shape of my card with my new Grand Calibur (love it!!) and an MFT die for the diecut behind Tilda.  Following are the details:

Images: Bunny Tilda (doesn't seem to be in stock right now),  Tilda Hugging Bunny, and Happy Easter sentiment from Magnolia-licious.
Ink: Memento ink for stamping. Ranger DI Walnut stain and Antique Linen to distress my paper to look like wood.
Copic colors: BV13, BV11, BV000, BV0000, E11, E00, E000, R20, W7, W5, W3, W1, W00, B97, B95, B91, B000, C5, C3, C1, C00, E18, E19, E17, E13, E35, YR23, Y21, Y000
Papers: Bazzill Preppie stack (mustard color and black), Nitwits paper
Tools: spellbinder dies, MFT die, hole punch, miscellaneous buttons/ribbon/string/ladybugs/pearls/and Lindst chocolates

I will enter this project at the following challenges:

Stampavie and More -spring/easter
Stampin with the Dragon - bring on spring
Secret Crafter - anything but a card
Magnolia Stamp Lovers - use dies
Let's Ink It Up - use dies/punches and rubber/clear stamps
I Did It Creations - welcome spring
Totally Tilda - use chipboard (I used chipboard on the inside of my wagon to hold the wagon shape, also used chipboard with circles cut out to hold the chocolate carrots upright, and I used chipboard in back of the 4 wheels to make it more sturdy).

Well, I hope you enjoyed my project today.  Next on the hop is Cheryl. Can't wait to see what she has for us!

Thanks for visiting!  Don't forget to enter my blog candy draw HERE.
Have a great day!

Make It Colourful - Colouring with Green and Yellow

We have a wonderful sponsor this week at Make It Colourful. Chrissy Armstrong will be sponsoring this week's challenge which is to blend yellow and green together. ** Remember at Make It Colourful it is not about just using the colors green and yellow but it's a coloring challenge where we have to color with the colors yellow and green and show how we blend them together.

Today I used this sweet puppy digi image from Squigglefly called "Forgiven" and paired it up with Make it Crafty's Daffodile Dell image.

Isn't he a cutie!? My papers are by Basic Grey Max & Whiskers paper pack. I used various brads/ribbon/eyelets from my stash to embellish.  The copics I used to color this image are: W7, W5, W3, W1, W00, YG67, YG63, YG01, G21, G20, E35, YR23, Y21, Y000, R81, RV10, R24, R22, R20, B000. My sentiment is computer generated and I used spellbinder heart dies to cut it out.

I hope you enjoyed my card today! Thanks always for visiting and leaving me such wonderful comments! I appreciate them so much! hugs,

Make It Colourful - Kiddies Challenge and Blog Candy

I have a long post for you today so I sure hope you can hang out with me for a bit! Today at Make It Colourful, it's our kids turn to join in the fun. They will be acting as the MIC DT this week and will share with you what they can do with MIC images.  My daughters' love to spend time in my craft room making cards for the family and using all my stamps and supplies. It's a great way to have fun with your kids and spend some quality time together.  So I enlisted both my daughters, Elena (12) and Christina (8),  to help with this challenge.  The challenge is to have your child color with pink and make a card, nice and easy right? Here is Elena's card:

She loved this little mushroom house from Make It Crafty and paired her up with a mini Magnolia (Tilda with Spring bundler mini) image to create this easel card. I had to help her with the easel card fold but she put the rest together. I think she did a wonderful job with this card and she even added that cute Magnolia snail to her whimsical card and look at the stitch lines she drew in for the butterflies. She has been practicing with her copic shading and has improved so much. She added stickles to the mushroom house for a little extra sparkle too.  I'm sure she would be thrilled if you could take a moment and visit her blog and leave her a little comment at: http://elenascraftycorner.blogspot.com/. I would really appreciate it!

Here is Christina's card:

She used 2 digi images from Make It Crafty. She used the Fairy Tree House digi image and the added fairy was a free image giveaway from Make It Crafty. Her images were colored with Prisma pencils.  I love how cheerful and colorful she made her card!  She did all the coloring herself but I helped her make the bow and cut her papers.
